Have you ever done something and felt like you were the only one who wanted to do what was right, or who cared? It may seem like we are all by our selves but we are not alone, God is with you. We will see in this week's lesson that Elijah the prophet felt that way. God had given him a great victory when he challenge Israel to a show down of who the real God was. He said, "if the LORD be God, follow him: but if Baal, then follow him." As we learned in a previous lesson, God answered by fire. Elijah had all the false Baal prophets killed so they would not mislead God's people anymore. Ahab the king and his wife Jezebel were very angry and planned to kill Elijah but he ran. Elijah ran to a cave in a mountain where he rested. He became very said and said to God that he was the only one doing the right thing and did not worship false gods. God called Elijah to the front of the cave to talk to him. Elijah listened when wind blew very hard, but God wasn't in the wind. Elijah listened when the earth shook, but God wasn't in the earthquake. Elijah was amazed when he saw the ground burst into flames, but God wasn't in the flames. Then he heard a still small voice, it was God. God told Elijah that he was not alone, and he had seven thousand people who were not worshipping Baal. It is important for us to remember that God is with us and their are others who want to please God too. "for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee." Hebrews 13:5
